What it is, vad det är, mikä se on

Filed under: Life outside knitting — knitter at 3:12 pm on Tuesday, August 28, 2007

The pictures in the previous post were taken around midnight. The rash got worse in the morning, and I decided to show it to the doctor. This is the inside of my right foot this noon.

Rash in the morning

The doctor ruled out Herpes and other diseases, and came to the conclusion that it’s a local irritation. I had the socks with me to the doctor. It’s a pair of superwash wool/nylon socks I had knitted more than a year ago, that have been washed several times together with my other socks. The only new thing is that yesterday was the first time I wore them on my bare feet. If the problem would have lied with the washing agent, I would have gotten rash from my other socks, my lingerie and other clothes. That never happened. The most likely problem is the dye in Novita Nalle Colori, red variegated DK yarn. It seems I never took a photo of the socks in question.

Here’s a picture of the back of my right ankle this noon.

Todennäköisin syy on Novita Nalle Colorin punainen väriaine.

I had something like this last week, on the back of my ankles, and it spread a little higher on my legs too, I also had it on my arms a little bit. It looked like that & my doctor also couldn’t figure it out, ruled out a whole bunch of things, blood test came back clean, I’m trying to research this.

I can relate to your rash. My doctor told me that it could be a combination of things and not just detergant alone. Food, perfume, oil from cars etc… I found by taking a Benadryl helps either by pill or gel. Aloe Vera cools the burning when it flares up.

I would suggest that you see an infectious disease specialist in your area. Ask to be tested for diseases that are transmitted by ticks.

You may have been bitten by a very small “nymphal” tick. Most people never know that they have been bitten.

How many hours were you all on your feet? What was the temperature while on your feet. I have a similar condition which a vascular specialist said is from the amount of pressure that is put on the legs due to many hours on your feet on hard surfaces. I have started wearing socks like you wear on planes & to help with better circulation on the lower legs. I wear these while at work & they have helped. I have only had this rash again when I worked 2 jobs & was on my feet way toooo long.

I have a rash similar to the one in the photo but not as bad. Mine has nothing to do with socks or being on my feet too long. It could be something to do with a Tic. I find the rash untouchable, in other words it’s kind of painful if my pant leg touches it or I put some kind of cream on it. I find it difficult to sleep and have to find a position where the rash is not touching anything. Difficult but possible.
