I woke up with a rash on my chest and neck, a very light rash... look similar to your everyday heat rash. I considered it to just that and treated with over the counter meds... after spreading all the way down to my lower mid section. I then went to a GP and was diagnosed with a form of roseasia (Spelling??)...

I was given an oral antibiotic and cortisone... I was told in a worst case it would take month to clear up and it did actually take 8 months... The rash traveled all the way down to my feet as it cleared up on the upper areas.... The rash never completely cleared and now I have a similar rash as described in above comments. with all meds that I tried the rash begings to heal and then flairs up again...

I was told by a doctor that i could be a fungal rash and the best cure is VINEGAR! STRAIGHT VINEGAR IN A SPRAY BOTTLE... apply 10-15 minutes before bathing and was area during bathing.... The doctor explained that a fungus CANNOT live in an acidic skin and the vinegar should wipe it out in a couple weeks.... I have been doing so and it seem to be clearing up but I haven't done it every night....

I had a rash quite like that. I had it on my thigh. I remember I felt pain on my thigh, kinda like a tender pain, but not real painful. Abour three days later, a one patch rash appeared. I didn't know what it was, so I went to the doc and he said Shingles. I wasn't convinced, so I went to see a dermatologist and she did a biopsy. It turns out that it was Shingles. I am 24, and Shingles normally appears in people over 50. Shingles in someone young would normally suggest you have a weakened immune system, so you might want to get that checked out, especially if your lymph nodes are swollen. Shingles is caused by the Herpes Varicella virus, chicken pox. We never get rid of it, and it always stays in our nerves. When out immune system gets weak enough, it reactivates and causes Shingles.

I know of several people who have this same "rash" including me. It is not exactly a rash. It just looks like one. I too get it when doing alot of sight seeing walking. (full day at amusement park etc.) and when I am in a warm climate. I see alot of people with this same "rash" when I am at vacation destinations. I have not know any doctor that can make a claim to what exactly the cause is. I am not on any medication, and I do not have any illness. This might remain a medical mystery.

I have this rash regularly, I associate it with heat as I only get it in warm environments. I also believe that certain dyes/materials may be a trigger, as I have noticed it more when I wear very dark jeans. The pharmacist said to use a cream such as E45 on it, however I find Savlon the best relief. It just keeps coming back though and although I can feel when it is coming on, I can't stop it or control it.

I've had this several times - it's been in warm weather, not cold. It happened most seriously in Australia after walking along the seashore area with both legs affected ankles to knees, a bit less so in Brazil in a Sao Paulo suburb and a much milder version when camping near Bath in the UK. The pharmacist's best guess in Aus was sandflies, but nobody's committing themselves.

No, Alan. The doctor suspected that the color and scratchiness of the yarn caused my rash.
